Enhance your farm record
keeping with a set of precision drawn farm and field maps drawn with
CAD. CAD is an acronym for "Computer Aided Design". This
is the same type of computer program used by engineers and architects
for drawing blueprints and manufacturing drawings. CAD has all
but replaced the tedious task of hand drawing at the drafting board.
My CAD drawn farm maps are drawn using
aerial
photography and satellite imagery to produce maps
with accuracy
approaching that done with GPS
technology. With accurate GPS
or dimensional
information from survey plats, these maps equal
the accuracy
of maps drawn with dedicated GPS
programs.
Custom drawn
farm maps provide you with the flexibility of including any type information
on your maps such as leveled field grades, field nomenclature
or number, acreage, drainage information, location of underground
irrigation pipe, riser locations, well locations, ponds, etc.
In other words, any special requirements you may have for your maps
can be drawn in.
Three different map files are included in the
standard map package I offer. the first is a pdf formatted file
that will print a map on 36" wide paper. I strive to draw the
maps at 1 inch equaling 330 feet which matches the scale of the old
FSA aerial photography but sometimes the size or shape of the farm
or requirements from the client preclude the use of this standard
scale on 36" paper. This file is in black and white but color
versions are available at no extra charge. All drawn lines and
details print out razor sharp making this map more than suited for
table top display or wall hangng. The second file is also a
pdf formatted file that will print on 8 1/2" X 11" standard letter
size paper. For obvious reasons, this file does not have the
intricate detail of the larger version and is intended primarily for
day to day usage or planning. It also is well suited for emailing
or faxing. The third file is in psd format and is intended for
cropping information and record keeping. It includes a customized
cropping legend where the farmer can use Adobe Photoshop to simply
pick a crop type or variety from the legend and drop that color into
a field boundry to make a record of field usage. Other special
requirement map packages are available upon request.
Below are
some examples of maps I have drawn. Two of the maps are farms
I personally operate and two others were for clients with special
requirements. Click on the maps to view the files in pdf format
to view the intricate detail drawn in and the sharp, crisp lines.
If you don't have a viewer for reading Adobe PDF formatted files,
let me suggest Adobe Reader v7 which is free for download at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
These are large files so please allow time for download if you are
using a dial-up connection.
