Three Point Hitch Four Row Cultivator
by: Jim Pennington
In a few years, this very common implement on the farm will only be a memory. Since the introduction of
glyphosate resistant and tolerant crops, weed control by mechanical means is fast becoming only a memory.
I wish I had a dollar for every mile I have pulled one of these suckers up and down the rows day after day.

This example was a common site during the late 50's into the early 70's. Over the years as farm labor
became more and more scarce, farmers were forced to do more with less. Today farm machines as wide
as 12 rows (38 to 40 feet wide) is becoming the norm with a few 16 row (50 feet) starting to appear. Equip-
ment this wide either hydraulicly folds up or is broken down into components for transport from field to field.
